Welcome one, welcome all, to my all new pre-game blog.
at the selection table- Hawks are missing a few valuable players such as Croad, Jacobs and Williams.
Aker, Cross and Power have been named for us, with Eade saying he is '99% sure' they will all play.
last time we met- Round 10, 2006. Bulldogs 109 beat Hawks 88. Johnno got 30 touches, 11 marks and kicked 4. West and Cross got 64 touches between them (how rare!). Griffen was fantastic, with Lewis the best for them.
a guy that has played for both clubs- Simon Cox.
why we love to beat them- 1985 prelim. Damn you Lethal!
the key match ups- Franklin is the obvious main danger for them up forward. I consider his mobility a greater danger than his size, with this in mind I believe Morris is the best option. Williams being out gives us the flexibility to change the match up if it's not working. The conditions may suit Harris in monstering Franklin.
Sewell is red hot at the moment and will probably take West. Johnno again seems like our toughest match up, tearing apart Sewell last time we met. Gilham/Campbell are his likely opponents. Darcy is another danger. No Jacobs and Croad, as well as a very inexperienced young combination really sets it up for Darce.
the predicition- Both sides rely heavily on their running ability, however the Dogs are more like a sprinter, while the Hawks prefer a marathon. Think the conditions will hurt both sides, but us a little more. Many of our runners won't enjoy the conditions, I see it as the main danger. They need to be up for what promises to be a great battle between both sets of midfielders/runners. Sewell vs West will be big, Sewell having the ability to take him out of the game. Mitchell, Crawford and Lewis give them a great engine, would love for Cross to be there to help out West and Boydy.
As strange as it is, we are going into a game were we can actually expose the other sides for height. While I think it will be pretty even in the middle, it seems like we are a little too strong at either end of the ground. Cannot see them holding Darcy, Johnno and Bobby and think Franklin has too great a job to keep them in it (just as a disclaimer- I know he is a freak, if he needs up doing the 'too great a job', I knew he was up to it).
Dogs by 28 points.

Oh Rocco, you are surely a sexy man?
Michael Johnston would have been a better choice for a player who played for both teams.
Nice post there Rocco, I reckon the wet weather could be a real.
