Foreplay: Round 10 vs Carlton

at the selection table- Faulkner and Ray out, with Jordy and Griffen coming back in along with Harbrow, Minson and Skipper being named on the extended bench.

They bring in the might of Bannister, Jackson and Wiggins onto their extended bench.

a guy who has played for both clubs- Ben Sexton

why we love to beat them- They were arrogant tossers when successful, now it’s fun to sink the boot in when they are down.

key match ups- Fevola obviously their main danger. Morris did a great job on him last year while Harris was out but with H’s fine form this season I think he get the first crack. I’d have Hargrave try and expose Whitnall, Morris on Waite if he plays forward and Wight on Fisher, with Morris going to Fisher if/when Waite plays down back.

Marc Murphy has suffered from the loss of Nick Stevens, if he isn’t in a tagging role himself I would give Boyd the job on him. Bentick has played well on Westy in the past, I imagine we would see that match up again. Both sides are pretty unaccountable so I don’t expect a great deal of close checking.

Battle of the two worst ruck divisions going around, go Streeter!

The Johnno match up might stretch them, from the outside looking in Waite looks their best option but he is obviously of use at the other end as well. Thornton or Walker perhaps.

the tip- We hate close checking sides who make our run and gun style difficult to produce. Carlton is the most unaccountable side going around and I think we will expose this. They have come close the past couple of weeks and this might be the one that it all caves in. Their forward line is hurt by the lack of Betts and even if their talls produce a few goals I see us being able to rebound strongly.

Our midfield and runners are a level above theirs and I really think a few of our guys will really enjoy the freer reign that Carlton allows. Up forward Johnno is always dangerous and Higgins, Aker and Cooney will be tough match ups for a team low on depth.

Dogs by a lot.
