The Friday Before

I hate the Eagles. Man i hate the Eagles. I hate their horrid looking jumpers. I hate their drug taking former captain. I hate that despite being close to the ugliest man in Perth (only beaten by Phil Matera) Chris Judd can pull a stunner.

I do like their old yellow jumper (And at least one of their fans, but thats mainly due to her love of Bring It On and Pauly Shore movies).

Overall, i hate the Eagles.

This week sees us take on the Eagles, who will obviously be buoyed by the return of Ben Cousins (not into the team, just back into the country). I'm not sure anyone is actually happy to see him back. Maybe his parents? I dunno.

Perhaps they can have a Toyota add for Ben. That would make some interesting watching.

If we allow ourselves to dig up the past, we reveal that we actually lost the Eagles in a pretty important game last year. A game we were in right up until the 3/4 time if memory serves. My memories of this game are a bit sketchy, given i spent a fair portion of the last quarter weeping uncontrollably on my parents door step.

Our games, as pointed out by the great Rocco Jones are actually not that terrible. We've had some great moments over "The House Of Pain" (who came up with that name? Rove's gag writers?) and have had some classic finishes, so i don't think we are without a chance.

That said, i don't think we have that much of a chance. The Eagles are a very good outfit and hard to beat on their own patch. They have some ridiculous record at home, with only us beating them in 349 games or something similar. However, if you have hope, you are not without a chance. Mind you, i've been hoping for Juddy's girl to give me a call and tell me she's on her way over for a good 2 years now, so perhaps it's time for a new philosophy.

I sincerely hope we win, but the realist in me says we won't. Time will obviously tell.

Anyway, enjoy your weekend good reader folk. Also, a bit of a plug for a great Australian band - The Grates. If you're near a cd store on the weekend, i recommend picking up this gem. "Gravity Won't Get You High" is the name of the album and it's possibly the best Australian album for quite sometime!
